BRUCE LEROY RULES!!!!!

Glad to hear you give much love to THE LAST DRAGON, which will prolly make the list for our upcoming Second Obscure Films episode. And you're right--it's totally goofball in its sensibilities, especially in regard to Sho' Nuff and Bruce.

We need to coordinate for this upcoming crossover, so contact us stat!

I'm listening to Freeballing, and I think you got something with the rapid compression between Big Events and Retcons. When they started stuff like CIVIL WARS and INFINITE CRISIS, visions of the 90's bullshit danced in my head.

Obviously, my revulsion for HEROES has been well-documented by this point (and it's grown with the awfulness of Season Two, which I've been watching solely for the Hot-Hottie-ness of Kristen Bell), and I'm glad you guys have been watching REAPER, which I've been having a ball-and-a-half-with...but I simply don't get why you're going all slob-job over PUSHING DIASIES, which I gave up on after the third episode. Yeah, the pilot was amazing, but Deeee-yam, the show is nothing but artifice, proud of its lack of plot and surfeit of quirkiness. The quirkiness has become all the show is about--I almost put my foot through the television after that stupid resolution revolving around the Asian Southern guy--and the central character is simply a total void.

(and yeah, I would totally be piping Kristen Chenowitz from here to the west coast and back. Not-Charlotte is so much more, well, fun that Charlotte)

If we work out the logistics, we would love to do a crossover episode next year.

Catch you guys later,

Tom

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed this episode--and especially how much you guys liked NEAR DARK, which is one of my all-time favorites. And I'll be adding BEHIND THE MASK to my Netflix queue. I was on the fence about whether I wanted to check this out or not, but your discussion convinced me it's worth checking out!

Maybe we should do a crossover sometime...

Later,

This was worth listening to just because you cats mentioned DEAD HEAT which is a movie I had long ago given up on convincing anybody is worth watching if for nothing else than to see Treat Williams as a badass zombie cop. Thanks!

Hey, guys...

First off, thanks for the plug for BITD...you should find something equally nice at the beginning of our next Preview episode in November.

I won't defend SAW--I sorta liked the first one, although (as Derrick and I discussed in an episode) I wonder if the reason I liked it was more because of the circumstances in which I saw it.

And I also won't defend BLAIR WITCH II: BOOK OF SHADOWS, although I will say that I respect it as an attempt to do something unusual with the franchise. Joe Berlinger was given an absolutely ridiculous mission--to make a sequel for a film that was effective more as a trick on the audience than as a movie--and made the best of it.

(Plus, we got to see Erica Leershon naked, and she's mighty tasty naked)

So while I won't ever claim BLAIR WITCH II is a good film, I will claim it as a glorious failure.

And for the record...my choice for worst horror film ever made? PULSE, that godawful American remake of the J-Horror flick which looks like it was shot through a badly used coffee filter. I originally went to see it solely because the uber-tasty Kristen Bell was in it, and I hated it so much that I gave Derrick permission to hit me if I ever went to a movie for that reason again.

Keep it up! Can't wait to see what the Zombie episode is like!

Hey, Bob. Thanks for listening!

How long have you been waiting for the CGS guys to approve your registration? They've been really busy with conventions and it may have slipped their minds. If the haven't approved you by Friday 7/6, email me (<a href="mailto:thegeeksavants@yahoo.com">thegeeksavants@yahoo.com</a>) and I'll make sure they turn you on... uh, I mean activate your account.

Just as The Dark Tower Books has its inspiration from the poem Childe Roland, you guys might want to check out this old poem by John Donne - it seems to offer insight into the show and Jack's character specifically. Here's the poem:

No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

As usual I enjoyed this episode of your show tremendously. I will quote Monty Python's Guy The Gorilla by saying, "I laughed until I stopped!"
Also thanks for the luscious spoilers - now I can happily avoid the screaming infants and popcorn snorfflers at the multiplex and wait for the movie on dvd. You guys are more fun than Ebert &#38; Roeper - but of course there are more of you - tough Ebert does have greater overall mass.
As an aside to Dave - Great story about the Hillbillies and their rent dodging efforts. Shocking and insanely funny. I can imagine the expression on your face as the hose was yanked from the crawlspace. The dude in the car next to mine at the stop light must have heard me howl when I got to that part on my stereo. I am dying to hear more. The note teaser is a great hook!
I can hardly wait until next Sunday's episode. In the meantime I will enjoy catching up on the ones I previously missed. One of these days maybe my nephew will introduce us.
Cheers.

Coconuts in the AT-AT, indeed!

Don't get me started on Grant's little red bag of adult toys. One time he chased me around his house with a dildo strapped to his chin. It was called "The Accommodator." Needlesstosay, I wound up cowering in a corner cry-laughing in fear-excitement. And not even in that hot, sexy gay way.

Grant is a funny fucker.

Hey guys, I just listened to this episode last night at work and it not only brought up some good memories but it made me laugh. The best part was the desert island toys discussion when Grant was talking about storing coconuts in his AT-AT. Hilarious!

One of my favorite toys of all time? The 12 inch Cylon with the light up eye that you could move from side to side with the switch on the back of its head.

Guys I downloaded your Galactica podcast and listened to it this morning while walking our dog. I thought it was great!
I pretty much think season 3 was one big effort to escape the box the writers had locked themselves into with the whole New Caprica mistake. I think that this loop nearly killed the show. I agree that the only thing that made this season worth watching was the liberation of New Caprica and the arrival of the Galactica jumping right into the atmosphere and launching her vipers. But more than that I loved the arrival and sacrifice of Pegasus.
So much of season three was tire spinning and time waste that you could tell the writers were struggling to find some means of getting the show back on track.
On the bright side I did enjoy the episode in which Helo had to kill Sharon in order for her to reboot on the Cylon ship so she could save their daughter. That episode once again illustrated what a powerful character Helo is. He is the conscience of mankind and specifically the conscience of Adama.
I agree with Brian that the show will probably wrap with the people a revelation that the people of earth are human/cylon hybrids. In fact it will probably go further and reveal that all humans are actually human/cylon hybrids since the one cylon often repeated that "it has all happened before" and the basic biological rule that members of two different species cannot produce fertile offspring. Otherwise Hera and the Chief's baby will be rendered mules.
As for the music, I groaned when I heard All Along The Watchtower. Not that I don;t love this song, but because I cringe whenever the show uses certain brand specific items in the non-earth settings of the show (as with the French Citron in the parking garage on Caprica). It instantly distracts me and kills my suspension of disbelief.
I also agree the show is best when they are engaged in firefights, and expect a huge scale battle at the close of the series in which the cylons and mankind (both on earth as well as within the fleet) will be reduced in number so few that they will have no choice but to embrace each other to become one race in order to survive. This satisfies the requirements of the story arc, the drama and also that of the metaphysical issues created within the storyline.
Finally I agree that Starbuck ( her character greatly changed ) is not a cylon. Also I think that Laura Roslin in fact does not have cancer and it will be revealed that she is the final cylon.
Keep the great podcast spinning guys!
p.s. Brian, I am glad to hear you finally like Farscape.

If I can listen to a show all about "American Idol" (which I've never watched one episode of) and be entertained you should make a lot of people happy :-)
